'Moll Flanders,' 'History Of Misella' And 'The Rambler': How The Role Of Women Shaped 18th Century London Society
[ send me this paper ]
14 pages in length. There has rarely been a time in the history of mankind that women have not had to struggle in order to assert their worth as a gender. From the time when males first declared patriarchal authority over their female counterparts, women have fought – in various ways and with various results – to be treated both equitably and respectfully. Literature has long reflected this perpetual struggle between the genders, most often taking the side that support patriarchal control; however, a slow but steady change began occurring in eighteenth century London society that helped nurture a growing metamorphosis, which included Samuel Johnson 'Rambler' (Misella), Daniel Defoe's 'Moll Flanders' and Frances Burney's 'Evelina: Or, the History of a Young Lady's Entrance into the World.' Bibliography lists 11 sources.

2 Views /Female Participation in Late 19th and Early 20th Century Politics
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page analysis in which the writer argues that Theda Skocpol in her book "Protecting Soldiers and Mothers," and also Kristi Andersen in her book "After Suffrage" address similar territory in that both of these political scientists look at how female participation in the American political process in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries has largely been under-appreciated or ignored completely. Both of these authors demonstrate that this participation must be viewed within the context of political framework of their time in order to be understood properly. Bibliography lists 8 sources.

A Conversation Among Friends Who Went Away For The Weekend

5 pages in length. Julie, Ann and Elise needed to get away for the weekend. Between their boyfriends, work and classes, all three young women were past due for some serious rest and relaxation. They were looking forward to this trip for many reasons, but one of the most important was so they could talk about everything until all hours of the night; while choice of topics was vast in nature, there was one subject that kept recurring over and over again throughout the weekend: men. What ultimately developed was a conversation that ended up with all three women in hysterics. No bibliography.

A Psychoanalytic Reading of Christina Rossetti’s “The Lost Titian”
[ send me this paper ]
This 5 page report discusses the psychoanalytical aspects of the short story by Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) “The Lost Titian” that was published in 1856. It is worth noting that her works’ apparent simplicity often masks a darker and far more intellectual stream of consciousness. From a psychoanalytical perspective it is quite clear that there is much more to the writer and her work which may, in itself, serve as a metaphor for a creative and unique woman of the Victorian age. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

A View of Medieval Life (7 pp)
[ send me this paper ]
Labels in any time period tend to fluctuate -we may call the Middle Ages that period of time from the twelfth century to the fifteenth century. An art historian would label these early, high and late Gothic, but for the sake of discussion we will use "Medieval," to encompass both. A large part of the population at this time was illiterate, but that does not mean that they did not love stories like the rest of us. What has survived from that period are the stories, in the forms of the works of Christine de Pisan (1363 - 1431) and Jean Foissart ( c 1330 - c1404). Yet we will see different pictures of the same society from their point of view as we examine their works. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Abuse Alert In The Dental Industry
[ send me this paper ]
4 pages in length. Children are often the unwitting victims of domestic violence, even though they are not the specific targets of the adult's anger. Statistics show that in America, a child is reported abused or neglected every thirteen seconds, which equates to more than two point seven million children each and every year. This figure, more than three times as many as was reported in 1980, reflects a disturbing trend toward uncontrolled acts of domestic violence. The writer discusses how dental healthcare professionals can first recognize child abuse in their patients and then deal with the moral and ethical obligations of reporting such abuse. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
