The Evolution of Hitler’s Anti-Semitism
[ send me this paper ]
This 6 page report discusses how Adolf Hitler’s anti-Semitism grew in the two decades preceding World War II and how he used it to inspire the German people. By 1921, Hitler was speaking to groups that numbered in the thousands. By the time he published “Mein Kampf” (1924) membership in the Nazi party had grown to the tens of thousands. Anti-Semitism and blame laid at the door of the Jews for Germany’s problems brought eager “converts” to the party. This paper also discusses how anti-Semitism became more virulent between the publication of “Mein Kampf” and Hitler’s famous speech at the Reichstag in January of 1939. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

"Europa, Europa"
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Polish writer-director Agnieszka Holland's film Europa, Europa both historically and emotionally addresses the extent to which people will go in order to stay alive. Caught within the hostile world of Nazi warfare, Jewish youth Solomon Perel realizes that the only way he is going to escape a brutal death at the hands of the Nazis is by masquerading as one of them. Indeed, the dichotomy of his circumstances is aptly captured through Holland's cinematic eye, allowing viewers to gain a significantly better understanding of the harshness that enveloped Perel's very survival. "Triumph Of The Will" And "Anne Frank Remembered": Compare/Contrast
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. The distinction between narrative and fiction is that narrative is derived from reality, whereas fiction is born of someone's imagination. That is not to say that either one presents a better form of documentary than the other, but rather to recognize that one's foundations is based in truth, while the other comes from the imaginative process. An example of a narrative documentary, "Triumph of the Will" might be construed as any one of various historical accounts where the information possesses a factual background, while "Anne Frank Remembered" represents a narrative where there is no assault upon the subject's integrity. War, nature, biographies -- these all represent a narrative in that they document reality, yet based upon the criteria found in Dai Vaughn's "For Documentary: Twelve Essays," Riefenstahl's account bears a significant obstacle in capturing absolute truth when compared with Blair's personal chronicle of Anne Frank's struggle against Nazi invasion. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

A Discussion Concerning the Historical Accuracy of the Holocaust Narratives
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 12 page paper discussing the concerns of historical accuracy of the Holocaust narratives. The historical accuracy of Holocaust narratives has always been questioned but regardless of this concern, narratives continue to be collected. The collection of the narratives is considered to be important in not only documenting experiences from the past but benefiting future students in regards to appreciating their lives today and learning from the horrors of history. Holocaust narratives however are extremely subjective and personal and historians have always considered autobiographies to be only one of many sources and cannot be considered independently. One of the reasons for the questioning of their accuracy is the reliance on memory which can be influenced by many factors. These factors include trauma; the overlapping distinction between memory and imagination; the desire to present a moral image which depicts events as “black” or “white”; and the desire to present an account which will honor those from the past and educate those in the future among other influences. These desires may be totally subconscious but exist nevertheless and are powerful. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
